America KKXII
by Adam Alexander
America land of the fee and the home of the graves.
America in God we trust
and trust we must
lest He send jet-fueled angels to drop bombs on our cities.
America where does God buy His suits?
When will Saint Johanns deliver my prayers?
America why are your prisons filled with patriots?
Keep your politics out of my justice.
Stop tipping the scales with stacks of money,
How many dollars is my life worth to America?
America you gave your animals medals and created them more equal than your citizens.
Since when do you butcher eagles instead of pigs?
America when will you set an example of trustworthiness? What is your trust worth?
Tell me again about the valor in sacrifice. What are you trying to prove?
Can you clean up the ocean with machine guns?
Is there enough spent lead in Afghanistan to shield us from nuclear radiation?
America you make me want to die young, stop making the future so hazardous.
America your forests are burning themselves in shame.
America your stripes are turning gray because you keep hanging your flag over an ashtray.
America your stars are covered in checkbooks,
Stop stapling dollar bills over your sovereignty.
Or the rockets’ red tape,
The bombs bursting in Bagdad,
Gave proof to the media that our flag was still there,
draped over an army of coffins.
Where did the enemies of humanity get their firearms?
Who gives freedom fighters their means?
How many terrorists does it take to screw in a warhead?
Who do I make checks payable to?
O’ say, does that star spangled banner yet burn?
In an America where the freedom is a prize to be earned.

The Piano Farm: I think I love this poem
CHICKEN STORM by Jeremy Radin
Musta been like a thousand chickens come flyin’ up from the other side’a
that hill. I spent my whole life knowin’ them chickens couldn’t fly & then
here they come, a sunrise’a crazy brown feathers, up from the other side’a
that hill. Ain’t no explanation…
